Hold off on pruning those spring flowering shrubs that bloom on last year’s growth such as Lilac, Forsythia, Flowing Quince, Magnoia, Azalea, Mock Orange, Weigela, etc.  These should all be pruned after they finish blooming, usually in late spring or early summer.
